This workshop demonstration presents the Welping A Max Series hydraulic butt fusion machine during pipe clamping, carriage movement, and pipe-end closing. The photos provide a closer look at the machine layout, hydraulic controls, and remote operation.
Pipe Clamping and Reinforced Frame
Before butt fusion welding, the pipes must be securely clamped and their alignment checked. The close-up photos show how the pipes sit in the clamps and how the clamping assembly is arranged on the frame.
The A Max Series features a reinforced frame to support pipe clamping and carriage movement. With the appropriate reduction inserts fitted for the pipe diameter, the operator can bring the pipe ends together, check their alignment, and adjust the clamping position as needed before facing and welding.
Dual-Knob Hydraulic Unit: Pressure Setting and Fine Adjustment
The A Max hydraulic unit uses two knobs for pressure setting and fine adjustment. Operators can set the required pressure, then make small adjustments to suit the welding procedure.
Positioned beside the machine, the hydraulic unit groups the pressure gauge and adjustment controls on one panel. This allows the operator to monitor the pressure reading while observing carriage and pipe movement.
Remote Control for Carriage Movement and Facer Operation
The A Max Series comes with a remote control incorporating carriage forward and reverse movement, facer control, and an emergency stop. These functions give operators convenient access to key machine controls.
During the pipe-end closing demonstration, the operator can control carriage movement from a position with a clear view of the pipe ends. This makes it easier to observe their approach and contact, and identify whether the clamping position needs adjustment.
