Field Applications for Large-Diameter Pipelines
A WP1600A hydraulic butt fusion system supporting an OD 1600mm HDPE seawater pipeline under demanding construction conditions in Eurasia.
Seawater Desalination Project
The WP1600A hydraulic butt fusion machine was deployed on a major seawater desalination pipeline project in Eurasia. The system supported the on-site joining of OD 1600mm HDPE pipe, where accurate alignment, controlled fusion pressure and dependable operation were essential to maintaining construction progress.
Built around a heavy-duty steel frame and a responsive hydraulic system, the WP1600A helps operators position large pipe sections securely throughout facing, heating, changeover and fusion. Its modular configuration also supports practical transportation and setup across complex civil-construction environments.

Built for Demanding Field Conditions
Up to 1600mm
Covers OD 1200–1600mm HDPE pipe for desalination, water transmission and other infrastructure-scale installations.
Hydraulic Clamping
Hydraulic clamping and pressure control help maintain stable pipe alignment and repeatable fusion force during field work.
Field-Ready Design
A robust frame, separate hydraulic unit and practical component layout are suited to demanding on-site operating conditions.
Reliable Performance
Controlled facing, heating and joining stages support consistent weld preparation for critical water and industrial pipelines.
A Complete Fusion System for Large-Diameter Pipe
The WP1600A is engineered as a coordinated system rather than a single clamping unit. Its main frame, hydraulic power station, electric facing tool and heating plate work together to support an orderly butt fusion cycle for OD 1200–1600mm HDPE pipe.
Secure Alignment
Heavy-duty clamps hold large pipe sections while hydraulic movement helps operators bring the prepared ends together in a controlled manner. Stable alignment is especially important when pipe weight and uneven site conditions create additional handling demands.
Consistent End Preparation
The powered facing tool prepares clean, parallel pipe ends before heating. This supports uniform contact with the heating plate and helps the crew establish the conditions required for a consistent fusion joint.
Controlled Heating and Fusion
A dedicated heating plate provides the fusion surface, while the hydraulic unit gives operators practical control over drag, heating and joining pressure according to the applicable pipe specification and site procedure.
Project-Oriented Configuration
For large water and industrial pipelines, machine selection should consider pipe diameter, SDR, material grade, available power, lifting arrangements and working space. WELPING can configure the system around these project inputs.
