What Type of Fusion Welder Is Suitable for PPR Pipes?
Let’s first classify by model. Common hand-held fusion welders on the market are DN20-32, DN20-63, and DN75-110. The maximum socket-fusion welder does not exceed DN160. For common PPR sizes such as 200, 250 and 315, there are two welding methods: butt fusion welding and electrofusion welding. For butt fusion welding, the 90-315 welding machine is widely used. Note that the temperature shall be set to 260 °C, the proper working temperature for PPR. Given the considerable wall thickness of these pipes, high-speed steel blades shall be used for the milling cutter. For electrofusion welding, an electrofusion welder is adopted. The electrofusion welding procedure for PPR pipes is identical to that for conventional PE pipes.
How Are PPR Pipes Larger Than DN160 Welded?
1. Butt Fusion Welding
2. Electrofusion Welding
