FX Series Butt Fusion Machine Clamp Configuration
Clamp design in the FX series butt fusion machines is adjusted according to machine size, ensuring proper pipe holding and alignment for different diameter ranges.
Models up to 315
For FX series machines up to size 315, the clamp system typically uses two to three clamp blocks.
Within this diameter range, pipe weight and handling requirements are relatively moderate, and this configuration provides sufficient support for stable positioning during welding.
Models 355 and Above
Starting from size 355 and larger, the clamp arrangement changes to accommodate larger and heavier pipes.
The number of clamp blocks increases, forming a multi-segment full-circle clamping structure composed of several clamp sizes. From the outside, the clamp blocks are positioned closely together, leaving only minimal visible gaps between segments.
Reason for the Configuration Change
As pipe diameters increase, both pipe weight and clamping force requirements rise accordingly.
Using a greater number of clamp blocks allows the pipe to make more uniform contact with the clamping surface, helping maintain stability during loading, alignment, and welding operations.
Configuration Note
This multi-segment clamp design is not limited to a single machine model.
It serves as the standard clamp configuration across all FX series machines sized 355 and above, ensuring consistent clamping performance for large-diameter pipe applications.
